The film is based on the results of research by Richard Davidson, one of the leading neurologists, in the field of studying the healthy mind. In 1992, Davidson met with the Dalai Lama, who invited him to use his methods of studying depression and anxiety to explore compassion and kindness, qualities that were brought up in the Tibetan practice of meditation.
Now the development of Professor Davidson is used to treat Iraqi veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, children with attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity.
The film poses two main questions: what is consciousness, and how does it manifest itself in the brain and body? Is it possible to physically change the brain only with the help of spiritual practices?
