1947 European professor of French, Humbert Humbert, moves to the United States. He rents a room with the widow Charlotte Haze and her daughter Lolita. This teenage girl is unusually lively and not very modest, but this is what Humbert causes the birth of feelings for Lolita, which is very frightening to him. Soon Lolita informs Humbert that he really likes her mother and, indeed, Charlotte confronts him with a choice - the wedding or he leaves her house forever. Humbert is forced to agree to a marriage because he wants to stay closer to Lolita. Once Charlotte finds Humbert's diaries, in which he describes in detail his passion for Lolita and how disgusting Charlotte he is. Soon she dies in an accident.
