Pioneers of a particular direction or style always take on a huge responsibility to future generations. They give a kind of "guarantee" to create something extraordinary and new, something that lingers over the centuries. They also realize that many will have to sacrifice, betray or abandon someone halfway through.
The modern skateboarding movement does not always know its origins. And the origins were simple guys, initially fond of surfing. At some point, they confidently take to the streets of a glorious small town (the name of which is indicated in the title of the movie “Kings of Dogtown”) and literally “occupy” with their boards the abandoned pools. They know that there will be followers. Those who continue the intricate extreme direction of extravagant street culture. But the closer the peak of glory, the worse the relations inside their collective, united before. The company of former friends no longer shun insults and betrayals of each other. And there is nothing surprising in this, since a lot of money comes into play, capable of confusing even the best of many years of friendship. What can we say about the young guys who are still suffering from youthful maximalism and ambition.
